Chemical Correction

ORIGINALLY DERIVED FROM SUCH THINGS AS A DUCK’S BILL, CHEMICAL PEELS HAVE BEEN USED THROUGHOUT THE AGES.

Aesthetic Artistry has helped countless men, women and teens. “I can’t even believe this is the same skin I had when I first started seeing you.”- Olivia P.

Here are some goals you can expect to achieve when seeking the medical version of these types of treatments: diminishment of skin irregularities, fine lines, wrinkles, sun damage, scarring, improvements in skin texture, tone, pore reduction and acne. This technique can improve the appearance of your skin in all areas of the body and give you total skin rejuvenation. Before embarking upon a chemical exfoliation, it’s imperative to have a consult with either a doctor or medical aesthetician to provide you with the appropriate information. Aesthetic Artistry has extensive knowledge in different skin conditions, working one and one with you, to come up with a clear and decisive plan to treat your skin’s unique and specific needs.

Chemical exfoliation is the removal of skin in a uniform way to encourage its wound healing response. By doing so it increases collagen production on a dermal level. Chemical exfoliations typically are not painful, but can cause some stinging, redness, irritation and possibly some crusting to the skin.

Chemical peels utilize caustic agents, which accelerate exfoliation or damage skin. By inducing a controlled wound, skin then releases cytokines and inflammatory medians, to heal the skin, resulting in thickening of epidermis, increased collagen, reorganization of structure, dermal thickening and dermal volume, leaving skin more youthful. Here are several types of chemical peels typically used at aesthetic artistry skin clinic of NYC.

Superficial or Light peels: “the no peel, peel”

Usually consisting of Alpha-hydroxyl acids and /or Enzymes used to penetrate only the outer layers for a gentle exfoliation. Great to refresh dull, flat, dehydrated skin. Great for sensitive and rosacea skin types as well as skin types of a Fitzpatrick IV and higher

Medium peels: “just a bit aggressive”

Aesthetic artistry utilizes glycolic acids or Jessener solutions consisting of PH levels below 3.7 which can penetrate the middle layers of skin in order to remove damaged skin cells. These types of peels help improve age spots, fine lines, wrinkles, freckles, mild melisma, discoloration and active acne. Medium peels can also be used to smooth rough skin texture, skin growths, actinic keratosis, acne and keratosis pilaris or “KP”, which is commonly found on the back of arms and legs.

Deep peel: “aggressive”

Tricholoracetic acid (TCA) and Phenol. Patients are commonly pretreated for these types of peels. As their PH levels are below 3.2 and fall under a medical treatment as per New York State Law. Patients WILL see dramatic improvements of ALL skin complaints. These procedures are used on face only and can only be done every 4 to 6 weeks and in some cases just twice a year.
